Green Grocery Bag Challenge!

Another post so soon?! This is a busy blogging week but there is a lot going on. I couldn't pass up on the Green Grocery Bag Challenge and today is a spread the word day. The Challenge was started by Sew, Mama, Sew! to recognize the work of Teresa Van Hatten The Green Bag Lady. I hate to send you away but you can get the full scoop here on the Sew, Mama, Sew! blog. The idea is to help stop all of the grocery bag waste in our world by making fabric grocery bags to wrap your gifts in this year. This also leads to the reduction of wrapping paper waste which equals 4 million tons a season. I have to admit buying wrapping paper is something I love to do every year and already I have found myself walking by the aisle craning my neck at the cute patterns. Now I realize where my fabric obsession has its roots wrapping paper was the gateway drug! Does this sound familiar to anyone? So instead of new rolls of paper this year I will be picking out some favorite patterns from my stash, maybe treating myself to a few new ones, and wrapping gifts in fabric bags please join me! There are so many great bag patterns on line to help from easy to a more complex. I am working out a few ideas of my own I'll post early next week.

This great roll up bag tutorial is by Needle and Spatula

If you are not a sewer The Green Bag Lady is giving away 25 bags to get people started and you can enter here or you can just wrap your gifts in squares of fabric that can be reused year after year.
