Au revoir!

Today we leave for three weeks in Europe. I was up at 5:17 and couldn't get back to sleep but at least I can get a quick post in. 

 After about 36 hours of travel our family of four will land in Barcelona and head to a hotel. This will be around 9:30 at night so I figure right at dinner time for the Spanish. I have a feeling the kids will be exhausted but really it will more likely be Ed and I that will be wiped out. The next morning we will be heading to Sitges a beach town outside of Barcelona and we'll stay there for a week with our friends and some of their friends. Next we will be on to Southern France and then Italy! 

 I will be attempting to post along the way but know the internet can be tricky so we'll see how that works.

Blowing Bubbles Finished

Here it is!

The backing material is so pretty.

So I finished this last week and waited for a day with a little sun to get some photo's, the sun peaked out and I tried to get a few, not the best lighting but I have some close ups to help.

Each of the bubbles was hand appliqued on and quilted around with embroidery floss in a running stitch. As with all my quilts that have featured applique or embroidery I grossly underestimated the amount of time it would take. I am slowly learning : ) This quilt seems so light and happy to me I can't wait for Laura to get it!

If you look closely you can see the embroidered bubbles. When I found this fabric I was looking for a certain color palette to go with some of the lighter tones in Laura's place. This is such a beautiful print I wish I could redecorated my room with it!

As usual I have already moved on to my next quilt so an update on that soon and I do mean soon because we leave for Europe in five days!!!!
