PMQG Swap and Giveaway!

Our monthly Portland Modern Quilters Guild meeting is tomorrow night! I am so excited because I had to miss last month and I am such a geek for hanging out with other amazing quilters. This months swap is a mug rug and while I have made little baby quilts before this was my first mug rug. "What is a mug rug?" my husband asked, it's bigger then a coaster and smaller then a place mat perfect for a cup of coffee and cookies. I think I like the term snack mat better actually. I now know why people can get so into making these because it's a little instant gratification and a great way to test run fabric combination's and quilt ideas.

The mug rug is made mostly of scraps from the Birds and Bugs quilt I just finished and I added the Michael Miller Spice Cubes print which I really love. I might have gone a little overboard with the quilting but I had a lot of fun trying out some patterns I have been wanting to use. For the binding I went ahead and tried this Single Binding Tutorial from verrykerryberry which works very well as a less bulky binding for smaller items. 


Now for the giveaway. I have been trying to think of something to giveaway in honor of my 100th post last week so I thought I would make another mug rug for the lucky winner. I'll make one just for you so be sure to leave some color ideas in your comment in you are not interested in the pink and green. I'll also throw in a coffee cup cozy for when you are out and about with your coffee.
