My Creative Space...

Happy Saint Patricks Day

I thought I would share my favorite green photo. This was from a summer beach trip to the Oregon Coast. There was a long path through the grass to the dune and then you would go down to the beach. When it's extra gloomy here in Portland this photo becomes my facebook profile picture just to remind me of the beauty to come in the summer.

Another thing I remember when I see this picture is at one point my son was running ahead on the path and he disappeared behind one of the little hills. When I caught up to him he was sitting in the middle of the path in a meditation pose with his index and thumbs together resting on his knees. He was only 7 at the time and looked so calm sitting there in the sun, I wish I could bottle that feeling.

Today does happen to be all about green in my studio.I ended up choosing green for my monochromatic Project Modern Challenge 2 quilt.I was actually thinking of beachey greens at the time although the quilt wouldn't make you think of the beach in a million years. I am happy with how it's moving along and can't wait to reveal the whole quilt. I've been taking photos along the way so you can see more then just the finished quilt when it's complete.

The events in Japan have been weighing heavily on me.Talking about it with friends and seeing our quilting community coming together in relief activities has helped me to process the tragedy.I am planning on contributing in any way I can here are some links if you want to contribute.
Oh,Frasson! and Tallgrass Prairie Studio are hosting giveaways with all proceeds going to the Red Cross.

Heather at alamode is starting to organize {Modern} Relief - Japan effort so keep an eye out for more info on that.

Hello Petra! That photo is indeed so comforting! It's so beautiful green nature but I think also that soft path leading forward makes you feel good! It would be lovely to work with green patches this time! I'll go to see those links...
Best wishes from Teje

Yay, I love all the green! On the subject of Japan/relief efforts - I am actually organizing a raffle on my blog of a bunch of baby items (hoping to post tomorrow) - email me if you are interested in contributing something! No worries if you won't be ready by tomorrow, I can update the post later, too. :)
