My Creative Space...

First I have my block for our Portland Modern Quilt Guild Habitat Challenge. We have all made blocks which will be revealed tonight at the meeting and then be made into a charity quilt.
I made mine using Christina's Double disappearing nine patch tutorial and it's genius I can't wait to play around more with it!
I have also been working on Nathaniel and Kristi's wedding quilt. I started with these fabrics.
From top left: Habitat City Planting, Bryant Park Chelsea Blooms, solids: Kona in Cactus and Mango, RJR Cotton Supreme Modern Colors # 283, and Kona in Pomegranate, City Weekend, Kaffe Fassett Roman Glass, Journeys In Flight, and Habitat Singing Forest.

This will be my first queen size quilt and you know that's really big!! Intimidatingly big! It took me a few days of staring at the fabrics, sketching, and looking online for inspiration before I finally just had to start cutting and sewing. These blocks measure 21" and will be combined with more improvisational blocks. The dragonfly print is for Kristi's dragonfly tattoo and I am getting some skull print for Nathaniel because he needs some macho for the quilt.
