My Creative Space...

This is block has the same green as above although it looks so  yellow in this photo.
I have been working on Nate and Kristi's wedding quilt and am having some ups and downs. The ups are that I am making this quilt the way I used to paint. I am sketching the quilt while I am putting blocks and fabric on the design board and making adjustments as I go. The downs are it's a slow process, I am getting overwhelmed because it's my first queen size quilt, and the quilt sometimes feels busy. These are some blocks the top two are around 10" and the bottom is about 22". Part of the problem might be that I want the quilt to be so special for them I think I am putting too much pressure on myself. My only feedback so far is from my husband who did give me some good feedback being an artist but he's not a quilter what do you think?

p.s. I'll also be putting the final coat of paint on the chicken coop today we're almost done!

I think it's looking great! Perhaps you should sew together a few blocks and get a feel for how they look together...I love the feel is very freeform and bright. I know lots of people quilt for others, but I have a hard time too. My rule of thumb is "do I love it?" If so, then they usually will too. If I don't love it, then my passion is not as in it and it shows. Sorry for jumbling my words, hope I made some sense! :)

What do I think?
I think it's eye-catching, happy-making, gorgeousness which is filled to the brim with love and will be treasured forever.

You are one clever cookie and this is such a fabulously generous gift, I'm not a quilter but I do appreciate a great colour combo and you've got that in spades here.

Happy day Lovely!

Hi Petra! I think that is going to be wonderful and a piece of art! I work very much the same way. I take my materials (fabric, colour, yarn) and start to work with them thinking at the same time what to do. Just can't follow any pattern.
Enjoy your artistic sewing!

I think it looks great, I love the colors! If you're feeling overwhelmed or like it's too busy, give it some visual relief with some solid negative space. It's your art though, listen to yourself and it'll come together the way it was meant to. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

What a nice example of fussy cutting to isolate the motif. Besides I'm a huge cat lover. I've featured this post on Craft Gossip here:

If you would like a "featured by" button, you can grab one here:

And one last thing, my daughter loves the cat fabric, can you tell us what fabric line it came from?

Warmly,
