Selvage Mug Rug

I made my first selvage mug rug and am so excited because I came up with using selvage for the binding! I hadn't seen this before but when writing this post I searched and found it on a blog from Creative Dabbling back in 2009. I love her On the Edge selvage zig zag quilt!
This rug is a little birthday gift for Kristi who I am making the wedding quilt for so I thought what better to do then use selvages and fabric (which she hasn't seen yet!) from her quilt. I started the rug with a center square made up of some of the quilt fabric and then framed it in selvages finishing with the selvage binding. I love my new binding idea and it was a snap to do.

It's Mug Rug Madness time again over at Two More Seconds and this time it's Holiday themed. Check it out here.

Ooh that's smart to use it for binding.
