PMQG Holiday Swap

Another holiday swap was a big success at our Portland Modern Quilt Guild December meeting. After last years amazing quilt made by Rachel I was trying not to get my hopes up but was so excited to receive these beautiful pillow covers by Gail
We are allowed to add one fabric and she added the grey which really ties in with the grey in the pink fabric. I love the quilting detail inside the pods. Thank you Gail!

Out of all the people at the meeting I drew my friend Bianca's fabric bag which I promptly tried to hide from her but she caught me. We had two months to work on this swap but of course I didn't start until two days before, really lame I know, but I felt the fabric with it's retro coffee pots leaned towards a kitchen item rather then a quilt or pillows so I knew I didn't need a lot of time. I finally decided on place mats and used Elizabeth's tutorial for the design but improvised the placement of the fabrics.
The fabric I added was the green which is actually a stretch cotton sateen that I have wrong side up to hide the shine. I have a whole bolt of the stuff from my knitting needle holder days. I opted to do a simple line quilting that has a retro feel like the coffee pots. I love how they turned out and I think Bianca does too!
I am happy to announce that I will be the secretary for our guild in 2012! Check out a little more of our holiday swap here we have some really amazing members.
