It's that time again!! I just have so much fun with Giveaway Day and even though it snuck up on me this year I managed to throw a little something or two together for you.
I'll get to the giveaway pretty quickly but here's a little bit about myself. I've been sewing forever but quilting and blogging for only 3 years. I'm a Mom, lucky board member of the Portland Modern Quilt Guild, an avid book reader, and a gluten-free foodie. I'd love for you to stay and have a look around.
Now lets get to it! This year I have two things to giveaway. The first is one of my favorite summer belts, a custom one just for you!
I needed a brown one so this one's for me! I can make you one that's just the same or you tell me the color you want and I'll pull some fabric from my stash. I was thinking some Heath would be nice or I have some great pinks, oranges, sea colors, well just about anything. Also we're all different sizes so I'll make sure it fits.
Second and I might regret this later I have for you.
All the charms from my Japanese fabric charm swap! 60, 2 of each, loverly 5" fabric squares. WHAT?! You know I just went a little charm swap crazy and I have too many projects planned to even know what to do with these. I hope the winner does something special and sends me a picture when they're done.
Here's the scoop on how to enter.
- Leave a comment telling me which you would like to win and your most favorite book you've read lately, people are forgetting this. If you would like to win either one tell me 1st and 2nd choice but if a belt or Japanese fabric just isn't your thing give someone else a chance my feelings wont be hurt.
- I love my readers/followers so let me know in a separate comment if you are one for an extra entry.
- For you no reply bloggers please be sure to leave your email address (jane(@)gmail(.)com) in your comment so I can contact you if you win. Last year I still had a ton of these.
- I love reading comments and I always respond but it can get overwhelming during the giveaway so I might not be able to.
- This is open to everyone out there I will ship to you!
- The giveaway will be open until the 25th at 5:00!

Have a great day!
I love that print from echo that you used on the belt! As a quilter, I would be so thrilled to win your charms too. :) I am actually reading a lot of quilting books right now including Denyse Schmidt Modern Quilts. I can't recommend it enough!

I'd love to win the belt -- I have a similar one and wear it often. I recently read Divergent by Veronica Roth and loved it! I think the sequel has just been published, and I'm itching to read that next.
I just finished reading Divergent and Insurgent. They were pretty good!
I don't really need a belt but am saving charms for a quilt so those would be amazing.
I am a follower now :)
I would love a belt in purple, but I can definitely see some uses for the pretty charm squares. My most favorite book ever is Pattern Recognition by William Gibson. Right now I'm reading Lover Reborn by JR Ward and I'm not hating it :)

The only book I've read lately (besides a Japanese sewing book) is The Hunger Games - saw the movie, literally had no idea what was going on. :) Those scraps are darling and you're crazy for giving them up! ;)
Ooh, the navy bunny fabric is adorable!
My favorite book saga is by Lois McMaster Bujold (she's got amazing female characters!) and my favorite in that collection is either the first two books (Cordelia's Honor is the omnibus) or A Civil Campaign.
Thanks for the lovely offer!

I also am a fan of Curis Sittenfeld, I think she is a great storyteller, and that she's good at describing loneliness... Sounds wierd? Well, I really enjoy her books! If I won, I would love the fabric, since I dont have much of a waist...
HI, I'd love the charms! I try to hide my waistline lately and am avoiding wearing a belt, heh heh! I have just finished another Ruth Rendell book - The Keys to the Street and I'd definitely call it a new fave!

I would LOVE either! But my first choice would be the fabric for a scrappy quilt I'm working on. The best book I have read recently is Hunger Games, but since that's so popular, another book I have read recently is Friendship Bread. Light, fluffy read, but cute story!
I would love either, but since I'm a new quilter, I could really use that beautiful fabric! I see so many wildly interesting prints!!

I would love to win a belt, and my most favorite book that I have recently read is Pride and Prejudice. Thanks for the lovely giveaway!

I am currently reading A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson -- I read it a while ago and loved it and figured it will inspire me to do some hiking this summer. And I would be PSYCHED to win a custom belt -- I have lost 40 lbs since January and all my pants are falling down! So, yeah, crossing my fingers for this one!
I am now a follower!

I'd like the charms if I win; thanks for the chance! :)

You know, I'm not a big book reader. But I'm reading Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman. It's a bunch of short stories, so that works better for me. I also love this author, he's pretty grim and fantastical, but really makes you think
I would much rather win the charms because belts look so very terrible on me. And I'm currently reading Bossypants by Tina Fey and laughing out loud at every page. I'd definitely recommend it.
I'm a follower!

I really enjoyed reading the entire Song of Ice and Fire series, as well as The Hunger Games trilogy. I just finished Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

The charms. I would explode with happiness.
My favorite book is Little Women.
Hello charms! Im not much of a belt wearer. But it surely looks nice! I love Marian Keyes! Last one, Saved by cake.
Hunger Games is my most recent favorite read. I can't believe I liked it that much. I'm prepared to be let down by the 2nd one. :)
I'd be thrilled with either with the charms narrowly beating out the belt. (I have few belts that fit...I'm fortunate to have lost weight and mine are too big. Whee!)
You're gluten free! I'll be following your blog going forward!
I would love the charm pack, and my favourite book has to be Jane Eyre.

Thank you for the giveaway!
Oh, I'd love the charms! It would be like getting a brand, new stash! I'd be glad to send you photos of the finished piece.
1st choice - the fabric (I'm a new quilter so I don't have much of a stash), but the belt is a close second! I recently read "The Last Boyfriend", the second in a series by Nora Roberts. Romantic, easy to read, lovely. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would love the fabrics. I am making an eye spy quilt for my grandson this summer.
I am a follower. I have enjoyed the Stephanie Plum series recently and the Hunger Games.
Your belt is really cute, and definitely my style. I've been reading the whole series of books by Lee Child. Definitely not fine literature, but entertaining none-the-less.
I would love the belt! The last book I read was Cleaving.. the follow up to Julie and Julia. A little bit of a downer, but still entertaining. Thanks for participating in the giveaway!
oh my! those charms... charming, indeed. very!
i don't read nearly enough since becoming a mother (and starting sewing and all the many other things motherhood has made me do) i think the most influential thing i've read in the past ten years would be ina may gaskin's pregnancy/childbirth books.
I would love to win the charm fabrics. I just finished Stephen King's 11/22/63 and I think it's his best effort in a long time!
favorite book i read? hmmm... maybe the first hunger games? Ive been doing a lot of reading but nothing has been too inspiring lately.
thanks for the giveaway!
lindsay723 (at) gmail (dot) com
I LOVE the Japanese fabric! I wish I had been sewing when I went to Tokyo a few years ago! I could kick myself for not buying fabric!
My favorite book recently was "Let's Pretend This Never Happened" by The Bloggess. SO hysterical!
And I'm following your blog because you clearly have great style!
1st choice for me would be the japanese fabric, but either would be great! I just finished a silly book but surprisingly good one called "Soulless". It's got supernatural stuff but is set in Victorian England. Thanks for the giveaway!
I can't pass up the Japanese fabric...thank you
I would simply LOVE to win the fabric charms!! Scraps are the very best thing in the world to me - I think when you only have a little bit of something, you appreciate it more :-)
I am reading The Kennedy Detail (historical non-fiction). I am really enjoying the behind-the -scenes part of the book, but I have not gotten to the tragic part yet. What a burden these men have carried for all these years.
Thanks for the chance to win!!
I am a new follower of your blog. I am glad the giveaway led me here :-)
I guess the fabric first - I don't have any japanese fabric so that would be really neat! I love the belt though too, and was just thinking as I cleaned out my closet this morning that I need some more belts!
I actually haven't read a book in a long time because I'm a college prof and reading books (for fun) during the semester tends not to happen. But over Christmas break I did read 'Kitchen Counter Cooking School' and found it really interesting. As a 'foodie' I bet you'd like it if you haven't already read it.
thanks for the chance!

im your newest follower! oh, i forgot to mention that i listen to a lot of books on cd...mostly while i sew.
I would love to win the charms! Such pretty fabrics!
I'm a new follower!
The Book Thief. So so good. I'd go for the fabric 1st, then the belt.
I love the belt, but since I don't wear belts I'd have to go with the fabric squares. Plus I see some Melody Miller in there, who could pass that up? ;)
I'm working on The Night Circus, so magical & whimsical. I also just got The Bloggess' book (drawing a blank on the title right now), it's freaking hilarious!!! :)
Thanks for the chance! See you in October! :)

i can't resist the charms, either. i'm reading the farmer's wife sampler quilt with letters from farmer's wives. fascinating
I would love to have those charms. I haven't read anything other than quilt pattern books lately. I am loving both of the Schnibbles books by Carrie Nelson.
I am a follower!
I would LOVE the charm pack! So if I win and it's an option, I'll take that! A really good book is I Am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I Want to be Your Class President by Josh Lieb. He's one of the writers for The Daily Show with John Stuart.

Charm squares please! I loved Maeve Benchey. Any of her stories. The first I read was Scarlet Feather. I don't want to be a noreply blogger and don't know if I am so here is my email: siso1959 (at) gmail (dot) com
The belt is super cute...buuuuut, the fabric is absolutely fabulous! My kids haven't been letting me get much reading done, but I always love to revisit Jane Austin. Though, possibly my favorite-of-all-time book is 'A Heroine of the World' by Tanith Lee. Love it.

Thanks for the giveaway! My first choice would be the charms, 2nd the belt. Both are so nice! I most recently read the Hunger Games series - I'm sure I'm not the only one to have said that but even though they're so mainstream, they're good! Thanks again!
I love those squares!!! I just read a book called Before I Go to Sleep and it was fascinating!
I'm not a belt wearer and I love the Japanese fabrics. My most favorite recent read was the new Nora Roberts book "The Witness". My next favorite read is going to be "As the Crow Flies" by Craig Johnson, haven't read it yet as I'm savoring & anticipating before I actually start. Because once I start it, it will be done too soon. He is a wonderful writer of mysteries-real characters & laugh out loud funny too.
I am a follower :)
Love the belt, but would prefer the Japanese charms as they would be perfect for a project I've been working (stuck) on! Thanks for the opportunity!
Almost finished reading "Close To Shore" which is good - it's about the shark attacks along the NJ shore in 1916 that inspired the movie Jaws. If that's not your thing then how about To Kill A Mockingbird? It's a classic & one of my favorites. I'm about to read The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie (yes, the actor/pianist) but can't speak to whether it's a good read or not since I haven't cracked it open yet.

LOVE the Japanese fabrics. Fav book - Shell Seekers by Rasamun Pilcher. A MUST read. You will LOVE it!!!! Great giveaway :)
I would love the charms.
At the moment I am reading Super Natural Cooking by Heidi Swanson. Great recipes.
I would like to win either, but my first choice would be the charms (and yes, you might regret giving them away later!)
My most favorite book I've read lately well..I haven't had as much time to read lately because of all the sewing, but er...this is embarrassing. My husband introduced to me the Mass Effect video games a couple of years ago, and he just had me read Mass Effect: Revelation which is a prequel to the games and I found it pretty interesting, I've never read books based on video game characters before. So I don't imagine anybody would ever read if it they didn't play though! ;)
The fabric would be choice #1, though I think the belt would have a lot of use as well. So both. I am reading Leviathon now and it's probably been my favorite in the past few months.
I would love the Japanese charms, they look amazing. The best book(s) I read recently was The Hunger Games trilogy. I had resisted after all the hype for ages, then I caved and devoured them in two days!
I definitely want the fabric, please and thank you. I never wear belts (although that one is lovely).
My favorite book? I cannot possibly choose. I am currently reading Dance with Dragons, book five of A Song of Ice and Fire. LOVVVVE it.
Would like to win the charms and Vampire Diaries books are the fav currently
I would like the Japanese fabrics. I love "if tomorrow comes" by Sidney Sheldon.
Oh my word. The Japanese fabrics, for sure!
I have mostly been proofreading my boyfriend's book that's about to be published, but perhaps more interestingly I am reading Madame Bovary at the moment - full on 19th century drama and romance!
I'd love the amazing charm pack please - it's gorgeous {swoon!}.
I just finished Deon Meyer's Thirteen Hours. As I live in Cape Town, South Africa, it was very interesting exploring the city through his eyes.
Thank you for a great giveaway.

Last book i read was about an american woman who gets married with a sherpa from Nepal... i enjoyed every single page of it!
I love love love the Japanese fabric! <3 I just finished reading the Wheel of time series, Robert Jordan (just waiting for the last book!) you should check it out, its good :) x
Since I don't wear belts, the fabric is my heart's desire. Last great book was Unbroken by Laura Hillebrand. Thanks for a great giveaway
I'd love either, but prefer the fabric. Favorite read the past year was _Among Others_ by Jo Walton. Thank you!
I'd love the charm squares--they'd make a splendid I spy quilt. My favorite authors lately are Georgette Heyer (witty, funny, clean romances) and D E Stevenson. Thanks for the giveaway!
ALL your Japanese charms....how I would love to win these. My favorite book is "Pillars of the Earth"; it isn't new but a great one. lakeann@yahoo.com
The fabric would be wonderful, I am reading Crossing the Borders of Time by Leslie Maitland and would highly recommend...thanks for the chance at those charms!
I am a new follower:)
I recently read Leaving Atlanta by Tayari Jones and it's fantastic! well written and engaging.
I'd take either though I probably wouldn't live up to the promise of the charms.
I've been planning on making a belt but it would be so much easier (and better!) to have one made by you :) I just finished The Lace Reader and loved it!
Just added you to my google reader
Oh, now that is just harsh to put your lovely belt up against the Japanese charm squares. I mean, who would turn away Japanese. Charm. Squares. (um - not me).
So yes, I would choose the charm squares and would likely fondle them endlessly.
My favorite book lately? I wish I had better news on that front. The Hunger Games, of course, but I read that a couple years ago. My favorites of all time are the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman. And I'm reading a Threads Sewing Guide right now which is very complete, but it's not something you just sit and read through.
Thanks for the chance to win.
LOVE the Japanese charms! I just read "Teacher Man" by Frank McCourt (author of Angela's Ashes) - I'm a new teacher and it was so inspiring.
I woud love to win the charm squares! I am currently reading a series of cozy mysteries by Dana Cameron that feature a female archaeologist from New England. I'm from New England myself, and was an archaeology major in college, so it really appeals to me. Plus, I love cozy mysteries. It's funny, in the book I'm reading right now (More Bitter Than Death), there is a character named Petra, a name I'd never heard before, and here it is your name, too!
i love the japanses charms. great idea! my new fav book (or latest read) was "a tree grows in brooklyn". so good. thanks!
I'd love the fabric ~ it looks yummy!
The book I'm reading at the moment is ~ Tea Time for the Traditionally Built (a No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency novel) by Alexander McCall Smith. And, I tend to read more than one book at a time. The other is Little B by Chris Cleave. Both good books!
thanks for the giveaway Petra!
Would love the Japanese charms! I just read "I Capture the Castle" and loved it!
